CURRENT FOCUS
Meat Alternatives

Sustainable shouldn't mean sacrifice

Most people genuinely want to eat in a way that's kinder to the planet. What stops them isn't belief — it's the plate. They don't want to give up the taste, the texture, the satisfaction of real meat. That hesitation is the single biggest barrier to change.

Our approach flips it. We don't ask anyone to compromise. We make meat alternatives so close in taste and texture that choosing the planet-friendly option costs you nothing — the same enjoyment, with up to 90% fewer emissions than conventional beef. At Plentiful, in partnership with Sofood FZCO, that's our vision: bring no-compromise, halal, sustainable meat alternatives to the UK and EU — and make the better choice the easy, delicious one.

  • Plant-based and meat-alternative ranges for retail & foodservice
  • Value-added, cooked and deli-style formats
  • Designed for UK and EU flexitarian demand
  • Lower carbon, land and water footprint by design

What's inside

What a great meat alternative is made of

Modern meat alternatives are built from high-quality plant proteins — engineered for the taste, bite and protein of meat, with none of the animal. The category has matured fast: today's products are nutritionally serious and genuinely craveable.

  • Plant proteins — soy, pea, fava bean, wheat (seitan) and chickpea deliver complete, high-protein bases
  • Mycoprotein & fermentation — fungi-based and fermented proteins add texture and umami depth
  • Whole-food blends — legumes, mushrooms, jackfruit and vegetables for less-processed ranges
  • Better nutrition — typically cholesterol-free, often higher in fibre, no antibiotics or hormones

How it is sustainable

Sustainability isn't an add-on — it's the method

Drawing on Plentiful Energy's low-carbon expertise — rooted in our founder's graduate work at the UCL Energy Institute — we assess and reduce environmental impact across production, logistics and distribution. Meat-alternative food is one of the highest-impact levers an individual or a business can pull to cut emissions.

  • Lower emissions across the food production & distribution chain
  • Reduced land and water use versus conventional meat
  • Credible, regulator-safe sustainability positioning for UK/EU

Vegan & Plant-Based

How going vegan can save the planet

Oxford's landmark food study called a plant-based diet "the single biggest way" to reduce your impact on the planet. It's not a small lever — it's the largest one most people have.

  • Cuts the carbon footprint of your food by up to 73%
  • Could free up to 75% of the world's farmland for nature and carbon capture
  • Uses a fraction of the freshwater of animal-based diets
  • Eases the biggest driver of deforestation and biodiversity loss

The planet-sized case for plant-based

If the world shifted to plant-based eating, the land, water and emissions freed up would be transformational — here's the scale.

73%
lower food-related carbon footprint on a vegan diet (Poore & Nemecek, Oxford)
75%
potential cut in global farmland use — an area the size of the US, China, EU & Australia combined
~18%
of calories come from livestock, yet it uses ~77% of farmland
